Rejuvenation
Image source Margaret River Art Trails
Artist: Simon James
Asset Type: Sculpture
Year of Work: 2012
Location: Surfers Point, Prevelly
Provenance: Shire of Augusta Margaret River
Description: This sculpture pays tribute to the resilience of the community and natural environment, symbolising regeneration and healing.
New shoots atop the shell speak of the green shoots following a fire – regeneration, recovery and gratitude.
The shell reflects our proximity to the ocean, and the uplifting spiritual benefit its untouched beauty brings us. Representing the cycles of time, the spiral pattern evinces the cycles of birth, growth, death and rebirth.

Balance
Artist: Dan Duggan
Asset Type: Mural
Year of Work: 2012
Location: George Burnett Leisure Centre - External Northern Wall of Centre
Provenance: City of South Perth
Description: The central theme for the mural is "Balance". This relates to both "work/life balance" and a healthy balance in terms of our exercise and nutrition choices. The group agreed early on that they wanted to add a sense of fun and humour to the theme and convey a whimsical, dreamlike quality in the design. The text “Balance” is based on a sketch done by one of the workshop participants, Nick Franz.

The New Zoo
Artist: Chris Nixon
Year of Work: 2012
Location: South Perth Library, South Perth - Internal Walls of Kids Reading Area
Description: As a distinguishing landmark of the City of South Perth, the Perth Zoo was the inspiration for this project. The design incorporates a variety of animals that children would traditionally associate as zoo animals, as well as a few surprises. The artist explored the idea of an encounter between animals and literature: Why would animals go to the library? And what would they do when they got there?
