Artist: Kyle Hughes-Odgers

Asset Type: Architectural sculpture

Year of Work: 2020

Location: 26-28a Charles Street

Provenance: City of South Perth

Description: These artworks explore the core conceptual themes and narrative around ideas of connection, through people and place. Pattern, shapes and form inspired by mapping and path making. The forms represent destinations. The natural environment and built environment interacting and converging. These destinations, some of which are isolated and others densely configured, can be interpreted as physical or methaporical destinations. The pattern can epitomize geographical connections and locations on a map; the idea of stepping stones, a physical progression to another point. Points between structures, landmarks, the river and the land, the hills, the roads, the ferry and the freeway. This pattern represents formed pathways and mapped movements over time, both minor and major connections.
