Sarah McCloskey is a Western Australian visual artist currently based in Sydney.
Working across numerous mediums, her work centres on themes of identity, place and connection. She is particularly drawn to portraiture, finding inspiration in the interplay between the human form and the natural world. Her paintings seek to evoke a sense of intrigue and familiarity, and act as an invitation to consider the universal experiences that connect us all.
Over the past decade, Sarah’s practice has evolved from studio illustration and painting to include large scale public murals, but her focus on people, place and stories has remained at the centre.
Sarah was a finalist in the prestigious 2023 Archibald Prize for Portraiture at the Art Gallery of NSW, and the 2024 Darling Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery.
